The most important attribute of a good portrait is that it captures some individualism in the subject.   To help us achieve that it is vitally important you be yourself and so we never ask you to strike a particular pose or adopt an unnatural expression.  We want to photograph you being you, we want to photograph you in a way that says something about you, not about us.  You won't ever hear us say Smile please or worse, Say cheese during a portrait session.    We don't have any preconceived ideas about how your portrait should look, like you, we just want honest photographs of you, how you want to be seen.  Simple.
